Peas Pulao in 10 minutes

   Peas Pulao in 10 minutes

Simple quick recipe

Easy Rice Recipe Peas Pulao
Peas Pulao (with Chicken Curry)

This Indian dish is  is not only very easy to make but also delicious. Fresh peas gives a sweet taste to this recipe but you can use frozen peas also. I learnt this recipe from my mom but today I will cook this pulao in cooker (which I learnt from one of my friend). It takes very less time if you use cooker or else you can even cook this in a pot.

Please follow the measurements properly.
Prep time 5 minutes
Cooking time 10 minutes
Serves 2-3

Ingredients:-

Basmati rice 2cups
Frozen peas /Fresh peas 3/4 cup
2 to 3 tablespoon of Ghee(clarified butter) or any vegetable oil if you want to avoid ghee.
Salt to taste
Sugar 3 to 4 tablespoon(optional)
Ginger-1/2 tsp(grated)
Some whole spices( 1 black cardamom, 1 green cardamom,2 to 3 cloves, 1 medium bay leaf and 1 inch cinnamon
1 single strand of mace(optional)

Method:

First wash the basmati rice 3 to 4 times.
Soak the rice for 30 minutes
Drain and keep aside.
Heat Ghee/ vegetable oil in a Pressure cooker or in a Pot
Saute till the spices release their aroma.
Now add peas/matar and sauté for a minute.
Add grated ginger.
Add the drained rice and stir for few minutes.
Add water( for 2 cups of rice we require 4 cups of water)
Add salt and sugar(optional)
Cover and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
Keep the flame high.

If cooking in a pot, cover the pot and cook till the water is absorbed and rice is cooked properly.

Now here I would like to mention that the rice grains( after cooking) should be separate and not mushy. Hence it is important to follow the measurements.

If the water is absorbed and the rice is still not cooked propely you can use little more water.

When the rice is cooked, fluff the rice and serve with Chicken curry/Panner Masala or Onion Tomato Raita.
